Acrylic and oil pastel on canvas board
W 30cm x H 40cm
In this abstract painting, I stepped outside my usual colour palette and subject to explore the vivid, electric energy of a city at night. I wanted to capture the sensation of looking through a rain-soaked or steamy window, where bright neon lights blur and merge into shifting reflections of colour. The piece is about atmosphere and place, translating the movement and intensity of the urban landscape.
I enjoyed branching out from my usual, nature-inspired subjects, much like the feeling of venturing into London for the day: energised and exhilarated whilst there, yet exhausted when I return home. This painting channels that rush, the sensory onslaught of light, movement and sound. The blur of traffic and the pulse of neon signs all find their way into the canvas, echoing both the thrill and fatigue of urban life.
